Virbhadra raises doubts over 'chips' used in EVM machines
There is nothing wrong with Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) but after the one sided victory of BJP in UP and Uttarakhand, doubts have been raised over the "chip" that is used in them, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said today.

A senior leader of the Congress, Singh's comments come in the backdrop of a chorus of doubts and allegations that have been levelled by opposition leaders including BSP supremo Mayawati, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and members of the SP. ,

It must be ensured that there was nothing wrong with the "chips" (in EVM machines), Singh said while talking to media persons on the sidelines of meeting with state office bearers of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC).

He also lashed out at the BJP for launching 'Mafia Raj Hatao, Himachal Bachao'( Remove mafia rule and Save Himachal) campaign saying that the opposition party has no real issue against his government and was resorting to such tactics only to malign its image.

"We would not be cowed down by these cheap tactics," he said claiming that the Congress would wrest the Bhoranj (reserve) assembly seat from BJP in the coming bye-election.

He also accused the BJP in the state of playing politics on the issue of declaring Dharamsala as second capital of Himachal Pradesh and of misguiding the people.

"No office would be shifted from Shimla and also no employee would be transferred and new offices would opened there," Singh said. He alleged that the BJP was upset over spectacular victory of congress in Punjab and indulging in false propaganda.
